Y2K Compliance

With the year 2000 quickly approaching, Y2K compliance has become a more serious issue. While preparing your business for y2K have you considered your heating, air conditioning and other mechanical equipment? Is your equipment compliant? Are your energy and other management systems compliant? If you are not sure just call us and we will be glad to answer any of these questions. Also we can point you to other Websites that can provide you with additional information.

Heat / Safety Tips

If your company does not have a preventative maintenance agreement in place call us today for a quote. If you do have a maintenance agreement in place, you need to ask yourself four very important questions:

1. Is my heat exchanger being physically checked for cracks?

2. Are all of my combustion blowers being inspected for proper operation?

3. Have all of the safeties and limits been tested for proper operation?

4. Are my air filters changed frequently enough?

Heat exchangers should be thoroughly inspected. If a crack or hole is present in the heat exchanger, carbon monoxide can be introduced into the building. Carbon monoxide is an extremely dangerous, odorless and tasteless gas that can cause headaches, or in enough quantity, death. Combustion and draft motors must be inspected to avoid safety hazards and or poisonous gases from backing up into the building. Safeties and limits must also be inspected for proper operation. If a limit or safety fails or is bypassed, the unit will not be able to respond properly in a dangerous situation.

Air Filter Changes

Air filters are extremely important in operating your mechanical equipment efficiently. How many times per year do I change my filters do you ask? swell, that depends on what your business does. The more dust or dirt a company produces the more frequently filters need to be changed. Changes could range from twice a tear to monthly depending on the amount of dust or dirt your business produces. Automatic Cooling feels that a minimum of four times per year is adequate. There are many types of filters to suit your needs. Due to budget reduction in many corporations, the fiberglass throwaway filter is extremely popular.

These are a couple of ways that you can prepare and be safe in the upcoming months. For more ways to save or if you have questions, please contact Automatic Cooling.
